Xandros Installtion Guide
The following guide explains how to DUAL BOOT Xandros and Windows.
The guide is provided free and without any warranty of any kind so ATown.org and all related people can not be responsible for anything in any manner.
Use at your own risk, and back up all data.
Now here's the exciting part. The install!
Let's start. You should of just turned the computer on with the cd in it. You will see a black screen with white letters and the xandros logo on the bottom.
Keep waiting untill you see the below
screen.
I installed a full "Complete Desktop" but you can change the package
if you want.
This is the hardest part. If you have 2 harddrives and want to have Xandros
on one and Windows on
the other click "Take over disk or partition". If you want to have
Xandros and Windows on ONE hard drive click
Resize Windows Partition.
The below picture is of having Xandros installed on one hard drive with
XP on another.
If you want both Xandros and Linux on one drive, you will have to do some complex
partitioning.
I only had one computer to test this on, so I cant give instructions for both.
If you want
to have them on one drive, click
here for some more help.
Above: If you want Xandros and Windows on 2 different drives, Xandros will
select the secondary drive
for you.
Now after you are done with all the disk settings, review the the settings and
click NEXT.
Make sure you leave the checkbox checked unless you dont want a bootloader installed.
Now config your network if you have one. I just clicked next and everything
worked.
Now enter your admin password (not your users password but the admin)
Now enter the name of the computer
Now setup your usernames. Click ADD and enter the fields.
When you have finished click NEXT.
Last chance to leave and do nothing! Please be sure you want to this. I take
no responsibility for any harm done to your computer!
Click FINISH if you are 100% sure and have no doubt of your abillity.
This will take about an hour. Grab a coke and watch TV. Or watch the stupid
slideshow.
I prefer the first one.
When Xandros is done, click EXIT
Now remove any CDs or boot floppies.
Now your computer will start up! You will have the option to start with XP
or Xandos. Let's boot into Xandros.
Now select your username and password then click Login.
KDE is loading!
UPDATE 11/25/05 - BETTER PICTURES ADDED BELOW OF SETUP

Now the first run wizard will pop up. If you are a lefty, click Left hand.

Now change any special settings.

Change the time if it isnt correct.

We dont have to worry about printers yet, but if you want to add one now, go
ahead.

Choose any system behaviors you want to specify. I just left this current.

If you want to register here's or chance or click register at a different time.

Your done!! Enjoy! If you want to boot to windows, restart and choose Windows.
